I’ve been thinking about a project I co-founded, now archived: The Pantry Project. Since the ruling landed on the 16th April, the feelings and the fear of what life is like when you can’t be in the world safely, shime and rhyme with so much of what The Pantry Project explored through its mix of food, collective creativity and coaching.
Body dysmorphia is about disquiet, uncertainty and sometimes a loathing of one’s appearence and for many the pride and beauty found in hard won manifestations of self that reflects personal feelings of identity is troshed in this ruling.
Taken up by those seeking to say something that is, in my mind, misdirected even if the intention was to clarify, the outcomes have muddled and made life intolerable day to day with an already marginalised community.
